Maia Morel
Maia Morel is an associate professor at the Université de Sherbrooke. She holds a PhD in Arts and Art Sciences (Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, 2006) and is specialized in the visual arts didactics at the elementary and secondary levels. Her research interests cover two main areas : the first one aims at studying the links between the teaching of arts and socially relevant issues (SRQ) with all the advantages that this pairing can offer to education. The second axis aims at studying the integration of the cultural dimension with teaching and how it relates to the training of future teachers in the role of "cultural facilitators". She is also the co-founder of the Arts&ERE (arts and environmental education) research group, a regular member of CREAS (Centre de recherche sur l'enseignement et l'apprentissage des sciences), and an associate member of Centr'ERE (Centre de recherche en éducation et formation relatives à l'environnement et à l'écocitoyenneté). She is the author of several studies and/or the coordinator of scientific events on education through art in relation to societal issues.
