Research chairs foster research and innovation in cutting-edge fields. They enable their chairholders to reach new heights in terms of knowledge advancement in their fields of specialty. This prestigious title is aimed at the scientific elite and many UdeS professors have been named as chairholder.
A chair can be funded by one or several donors, industries, private or public organizations, or funding agencies such as the Canada Research Chairs Program, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Société et culture and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada.
