Despite its reputation for being strange, quantum physics is behind some of the most widely used technologies, including microelectronics, lasers and medical imaging. The potential of quantum physics to transform society is far from exhausted: we are on the cusp of a quantum revolution that promises to be as profound as the breakthroughs of the past.

We now know that quantum effects can be harnessed to create computers capable of solving problems in a matter of days that would take current classical computers billions of years to solve. Beyond quantum computing, quantum science enables absolutely secure communication and sensors of unprecedented sensitivity. This presentation will explore the concept of the quantum computer and its implications.
