To explore the writing, orature, and other cultural performances of Indigenous peoples in Canada with attention to questions of representation, identity, territory, language, and cultural memory.
Contenu
Indigenous theory and research methods, postcolonial studies and neocolonialism, and various genres such as creation myths, residential school narratives, protest literature, trickster tales, conversion narratives, native autobiography, traditional stories, chants and songs. Popular and literary forms of the "imaginary Indian" and legal and historical discourses on the Indian and the Métis in Canada and Quebec.
