Explain the foundations of the ESL programme in Quebec, at primary and secondary level, as well as the main orientations of the Quebec curriculum, the importance of thematic planning for language learning and acquisition. Identify long-, medium- and short-term learning goals in relation to ESL programme objectives. Plan activities focused on carrying on a short-term task anchored in the ESL programme and based on the learning goals identified for the long, medium, and short term.

Implementation: Overall objectives and structure of the various ESL programmes in Quebec, offered to primary and secondary students; documents associated with the ESL programme and its objectives (the Quebec Education Programme, the Progression of Learning, the Framework for Evaluation of Teaching and Learning); planning based on long-term learning outcomes; teaching approaches and resources appropriate to language learning classes; creation of activities focused on carrying on a short-term task based on long-term objectives.
